Do you have a Go-to Song? Music can be an instant blues buster. Listening to upbeat music releases dopamine, that feel-good chemical, and decreases stress and anxiety. Try some “banging” upbeat music and dance or sing in the car, or at home karaoke style. Slow music can have a wonderfully calming effect. Try going to sleep to or waking up to meditation music to gently ease out of or into your day. Research has also found that music has a great effect on the mind and hormones, which naturally decreases the feeling of being in pain.
